The Turgwe Hippo Trust have had very special help this April from 18 children aged 6 to 7 years. They are in class 2 at Southwell School, in Hamilton, New Zealand.
These 7 little girls and 11 little boys had a bake off and they have raised enough monies to help 3 Turgwe Hippos by adopting them. Cheeky, Banky and Darrow are so happy that the children are helping them to eat.
We have a severe drought here in the Lowveld of Zimbabwe and the donations and adoptions are all going towards the purchase of food for the hippos and other animals.
Pen, class’ teacher, made this adorable movie where kids are showing their personal drawings of hippos.
I am so touched that these gorgeous children care so much at such an early age for animals and especially for the hippos. I love you all and send you huge hugs from me, Karen and all the hippos and all the animals that live around us here at the Turgwe Hippo Trust.
A special massive hug to Pen Holah their teacher for organising this.
Love from Karen and the hippos.
Vidéo très mignonne.
Bravo à tous ces enfants qui apprennent à aimer les animaux.
Bravo à leur maitresse pleine d’attention pour eux et pour le travail de Karen.
Donnez nous des nouvelles de temps en temps !
Chere Marie merci beaucoup. Ici tout va bien, les animaux mangent tout ce que je leur donne et les hippos maintenant ont pris du poid, ce qui est magnifique.
Amities.
Karen et les hippos
Inspiring! Thanks for this uplifting video , showing people (children) who care.
How absolutely delightful. What a fantastic School and Teacher/s to be encouraging this via the students.
You are WONDERFUL CARING children and people.
Thank you sooooo much from the Hippos.
Love from Janet in Australia.
If every endangered baby animal had a school child for an adoptive parent, the world would be a better place than it is today
How terrific! What a great project for these kids. Bravo! Teach respect and care for animals at a young age and they will have it forever. I especially love their drawings. They each have their hippos smiling. I am sure their help put smiles on Cheeky, Banky and Darrow (and Karen).
Great video and a marvellous thing that the children have done, helping the hippos through this difficult time.
Excellent! These kids rock! Long live Turgwe Hippos!!!
Oh, aren’t these kids just precious! It really made my day to see kids as young as this work together and with the help of their wonderful teacher had a bake sale to adopt three of your hippos with. Schoolchildren like this are our hope for the future.
I hope all of your hippos will be adopted by children all over the world, Karen, so you can feed them and help them through this terrible drought.
Ah bless!
Sorry: I cannot hear what the children are saying and can find no way on my computer to turn up the volume.
Hi Jeanette I think you should have a volume on your computer look at the bottom of your home page. The volume is fine so I am sure yours is just on a low level. Love Karen and Abe and all the hippos. She has come back with the family and she looks very well, such an amazing hippo.
